TESTIMONIALS

It started out as a dream to learn a new language and transformed into a mission to contribute to the deaf community.

I first found out about NMS Cares when they had a booth along Session Road during Panagbenga. I signed up for their sign language classes (Sign Language Deafined) and graduated all three levels. I took the opportunity since the lessons are free. A few months later, I was asked to be a part of a performance for the Deaf Festival, and am now a volunteer at the organization. It has been the best months of my life so far. At first, I was shy to interact with the deaf, afraid that there might be miscommunication, but being with them for almost a year, I learned that the way to learning and getting better is through answered questions, experience, and corrected mistakes. I found a family in the NMS Cares staff and co-volunteers, hearing and deaf alike. I thank NMS Cares for this opportunity and the best experience.

I have learned so much from my stay here at NMS Cares. I can practice my sign language and communication skills with my fellow volunteers and other staff members. Helping other people through me being a volunteer I received and gained new friends.

I live in a community surrounded by deaf individuals. I witness their everyday life, and I also witness their daily struggles especially in communicating with hearing people. Being a compassionate guy, that is when I become interested in learning sign language. I searched online where can I learn sign language, and that is when I met NMS Cares.

I feel so privileged for having free sign language classes offered by NMS Cares. Learning sign language was fun and exciting because of the activities given in class. I feel like a family member when I'm in NMS Cares because the staff are kind and very welcoming to everybody.

Being able to sign gives me the opportunity to help the deaf community, by doing so, I realized that the world would become a better place to live in if we help each other. I am very thankful for NMS Cares because GOD used them as an instrument to make me become a better version of myself. Thank you!

I am honored to have been able to work with the dedicated staff of NMS Cares and it's volunteers. This unique opportunity has introduced me to new experiences with the deaf community and has refocused my view on the importance of communication and teamwork. Study and practice of Filipino Sign Language is a given.

The efforts and contributions of NMS Cares and it's partners in carrying out their mission are highly admirable and I wish them all the best. To everyone involved, I thank you for accepting me in your service.
